Standard Scenarios

Standardization of scenarios makes it possible to address the same research issues with different populations and with simulators of different levels of fidelity. Such standardized information is expected to lead researchers to build on collective knowledge of simulator and scenario configuration to work to extend the domain knowledge.

The scenarios, listed below, provide general descriptions that can be tailored to particular research questions such as driver distraction, age-related impairments, and imperfect automation.

A scenario is defined as a driving task or condition within an experimental drive; each scenario may contain one or more events.
An event is defined as a discrete stimulus that is intended to envoke a driver response.

Driving Tasks
Car Following
Older Drivers - Test of Ability (Curve Negotiation)

Events
Intersection Incursion
Novice Drivers - Pedestrian Detection
